As a native San Diegan, Homer wants to “give back” to the industry and community. The Academy at Salon
Prefontaine allows Homer to share his firm belief and desire to educate. After years of training with industry
heavyweights such as Vidal Sassoon and Simon Forbes, Homer has developed an unsurpassed education program
for advanced training and hair design. His goal is to teach the latest cuts or color through an engaging process of
client consultation and analysis. Homer educates stylists on how to work with each client and their unique given
beauty. From the special techniques to the act of cutting hair, Homer is challenging stylists to take their talent to
the next level. His Academy’s courses are available as a series of two to four classes depending on the type of workshop.

How did they do that? Isn’t that the question asked after leaving a salon? Well ask no more! As part of The Academy, Salon Prefontaine offers unprecedented client education workshops designed to help maintain a look. The client classes offered include a Client Styling program and Teen Scene program. Every client will receive a complimentary styling class after their first visit to Salon Prefontaine. Designed to minimize the effort and time, clients will be taught a different approach to drying and styling their hair. No one has just one great look, so additional suggestions and variations on your individual cut will also be offered.

Recognizing how difficult it can be to develop a look as a teenager especially with the amount of peer pressure in this stage of your life, Homer has created a program just for teens. “Teen Scene” is geared to educate young adults on creating a look that will express their individual style. In a time where image is a big component in overall confidence and acceptance, Salon Prefontaine designed this program providing helpful tips and suggestions for both men and women of this age. Teen Scene covers topics from hair care, styling, make up application and fashion for individual body types. The goal is to provide unique tips, individual style and an assured presence.

As an extension of educating the client, Homer takes the mystery out of the hair color process too. Designing a unique “color bar” with a circular setting gives clients an up close look at the products used, how they are mixed, and why this formula will work for your hair.
